We provide both Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) services through a tiered response system within our Fire Authority service area. The provision of our emergency medical services is overseen by a Medical Program Director who is a physician at Providence Hospital. Our current Medical Program Director is Dr. Josh Corsa. He reviews our responses, training, and gives feed back through bi-monthly run reviews to ensure that we are providing high quality care to our residents.
Basic Life Support
- Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT’s)
- They receive 120 plus hours of supervised training to include National Registry of EMT testing and skills evaluations.
- EMT’s are able to assess patients and administer oxygen, glucose, asthma inhalers, nitroglycerin, and epinephrine check and inject.
- Provide medical assessments, trauma assessments, High Performance CPR, perform extrication to include backboarding, c-spine stabilization and other forms of splinting.
Advanced Life Support
- Paramedics
- Attend 1 year of intense training which consists of didactical, clinical and field ride time followed by Nation Registry testing and skills evaluations.
- Establish IV access
- Administer a wide variety of medications
- Perform endotracheal intubation
- Surgical cricothyrotomy
- Needle decompression of the chest
- Trained in Advanced Cardiac Life Support
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support
- Neo-natal Resuscitation
- Pre-hospital Life Support
